Streets Of Our Town
In this collection of works, Mahalia Leckner and Jack Reading invite viewers to reflect on their connections to Mulubinba (Newcastle) in the 'Streets of Our Town' exhibition. Through ceramics and photography, they evoke the viewer to reflect on our appreciation of our streetscape.
Mahalia's ceramic vessels and mountainous forms play on the scale of the city and the discovery of our street through vehicles, controlling our movements with pathways cut by cars and trains.
Jack's photographic series, 'Catalogue: Fifty Two,' emerged during the pandemic to explore a sense of isolation. Capturing the city at night, Jack documents known, nostalgic, and obscured architectural elements within the landscape of Newcastle.
