OUT OF TOWNERS
MOB DEEP
Last Friday, Wester Gallery threw open its doors for the highly anticipated Out of Towners exhibition, curated by Heath Nock. The opening night was a perfect collision of raw talent, community vibes, and a bit of chaos—just how we like it.
The gallery was packed, with people spilling out into the laneway. You could feel the electric energy of Newcastle's art scene, buzzing over tins of Young Henrys, glasses of Usher Tinkler and talk of radical creativity. The show featured a killer lineup, with works from Hal Witney, Tahlia Undarlegt, Patrick Oates, Bridget Stehli, Sally Bourke, Benedict dos Remedios, & Nina Radonja. Each artist brought their own flavour to the table, giving off-the-grid perspectives that feel refreshingly unpolished.
It wasn’t just the art that made the night; it was the whole vibe. Wester Gallery was alive with artists, locals, and the curious outsiders who drifted in. It’s clear that Out of Towners is more than an exhibition—it’s a statement. Art doesn’t just belong in the city; it thrives in the places beyond, where the rules bend, and creativity runs wild.
If you weren’t there, you missed out. But luckily, the show runs for the next few weeks—do yourself a favor and check it out. Just maybe get there early to grab a beer.
