Mike Phelps was born in 1946 in the USA and moved to Australia in 1971. Self-taught in painting, sculpture and printmaking; working as an artist and master printmaker for 55+ years and particularly known for his silkscreen prints.

Mike owned a Sydney screen-printing studio from 1983, printing for artists such as Brett Whiteley, John Coburn, Clem Millward, Jim Willebrant, Martin Sharp, Peter Kingston, Cressida Campbell and other artists. Mike has exhibited at various Australian art galleries and had his works shown in many exhibitions and solo exhibitions.

Mike lives and works in Newcastle, NSW. And now at almost 80 years of age, he still works 7 days a week, creating artworks and living a reclusive life devoted to his art. Few people have seen the artworks he has created in the last twenty years.
